Maasai community · Kenya

Life with the Maasai.

Land. Cattle. School. Exchange.

Eight days on Maasai land beneath Kilimanjaro. Led by Legis and his community.

This is not a safari with a village visit bolted on.

Real access. A few days at the community's eco camp on Maasai land, with wild animals roaming free all around you, and a few days in a local hotel to rest in between. No show put on for visitors. You're their guest, because they've chosen to share it.

Where. Maasai land in Amboseli, southern Kenya, with Kilimanjaro on the horizon. Legis ole Sailepo, a Maasai warrior leader, invites us into a way of life that still moves with its cattle. A unique experience, lived from the inside.

What you'll live. Out with the herders at first light. A morning in the school where 750+ students share an IT hut. Beadwork in the shade with the women, every colour carrying a meaning. Food around the fire and stories from the elders.

Why it's a must. Legis takes small groups where no one from outside the tribe goes. Hot, dusty, early, some days no signal, and the most alive you'll feel all year.

Legis

Led by Legis. Backed by us.

Legis ole Sailepo is a Maasai warrior leader and a trained guide. With Elev-Eight he takes small groups where no one from outside the tribe goes. He and the elders design the route, lead every day and decide what is shared, and what isn't.

We're there too, amplifying their work. This is a community-led travel business, so the collective builds it together, finds the partners that help it grow, and handles preparation, logistics and safety so the opportunity holds. We've also been selling the women's beadwork in UK shops for a while now, and 100% of the money goes back to them.

Legis is part of the School of Elevation, where every community rep is learning digital skills to grow their own business. Your trip backs that too. Meet the School of Elevation →

See it for yourself.

The journey, day by day.

Led on the ground by Legis. The route can shift with weather, season and what the community needs that week.

Days 1–2

Arrive.

Nairobi to Amboseli. The elders welcome you onto the land.

Days 3–4

Walk.

Out with the herders at first light. Water, grazing, cattle: how the land actually works.

Days 5–6

Make.

Beadwork with the women. Lessons at the school and the digital hub.

Day 7

Exchange.

Football with the young people. Your skills to the circle, theirs to you.

Day 8

Go home.

See what your group bought arrive. Close the circle. Back to Nairobi.

Pay it forward.

Invest in yourself. Back people who invest in themselves. Live an extraordinary life.

Your trip pays for water for the school: repairing the borehole and water tower. The community chose it. Your group sees it arrive.

The borehole.

Repaired, so the school, the families and the herds have water through the dry season.

The water tower.

Back in use, storing water where the children learn.

A school that keeps running.

No water, no school. This keeps 750+ students in class.

Where your money goes.

£333

of every place goes straight to the goal the community chose.

Paid fairly.

Every host, cook, coach and guide is paid fairly for their work as well.

We meet you before you go.

12 places. This journey isn't open for direct booking. Every family and group has a call with us first. These are homes, not products, and the wrong group can do real damage.

  • Ground transport from Nairobi

Questions people actually ask.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. You'll be part of a small group, with Legis and a local lead with you every day, and a call with us before you book.

Is it safe?

With preparation, yes. The route is agreed with the community, a local lead is with you every day, and everyone gets a full briefing before flying.

Is this a safari?

No. You'll see the land and the wildlife that lives on it, but you're there as guests of a community, not on a game drive schedule.

How every journey works: who leads, where the money goes, flights and groups.

Every journey starts with a conversation.

Tell us who's coming and why, then book a call with us. No payment until we've both said yes.
