Made in Ghana. Made to be seen.

Designed with Letitia, made by hand in Ghana, shown on catwalks in Liverpool and Milan, and sold in a shop you can walk into.

It started with one sewing machine.

A single mother arrived in Accra with basic sewing skills and a hand-cranked machine whose handle kept falling off. Letitia bought her clothes, shared them, and a year later raised the money for a proper machine.

That is still how Amaya for Africa works. Letitia designs, the makers in Ghana produce, and every new tool goes to someone who will train the next person.

Small runs. One-off pieces. Quality, not quantity.

Before the product comes the person.

Fabric. Thread. Experience. Judgement. Every product begins with the maker.

Letitia + Kwame

Meet Letitia + Kwame.

Letitia founded Amaya for Africa as a bridge between Ghana and the UK. She designs, the makers in Ghana produce, and she brings their work to customers here.

Kwame Mawu coordinates the work in Ghana, the makers and production, and is taking Amaya online.

Their big vision. A training centre full of machines.

From one sewing machine with a handle that kept falling off, to a training centre in Ghana full of them: that is the dream. Each machine turns a beginner into a maker with a trade for life.

Every piece sold online, on a catwalk in Milan or Liverpool, or off the shelf in Walton-on-Thames pays for the next machine, and every machine trains the next maker.

Amaya leads. We amplify.
